Easter Sunday 2026

Easter through the years!

This Easter Sunday fourteen of us gathered further west than in previous years. Storm Dave had blown past by the time we gathered at mossyard beach. It was still quite breezy though! We had decided not to book the Sauna in advance, but it was good to see it in person and this will feature at a future Quartz event.

Brewing up

Aided by our local guide, Sarah, we found some rocks to shield us from the full blast of the wind. Deciding against an open fire, we lit the Kelly kettle to brew up.

The sea after the sleat

We arrived roughly at high tide. In true Scottish weather style it was sunny, windy, cold, frozen sleet fell on us, and then the sun came out again to warm us up. By the time we had finished our brew the tide had fallen enough to walk out to one of the island. Not the island with the millennium labyrinth, that adventure remains.

Rainbow spanning the water

Our gathering was more brisk this year! But several people went for a swim. Others climbed the rocks. We told the story of the first Easter Sunday, and inherited the witness experience of Mary. We were encouraged to remember that the statement “Christ is risen” is present tense.

After clearing up I had a moment to walk across the narrow strip of sand, buffeted by the wind with my hood up against the cold rain. On my return I was blessed to watch a rainbow arc across the bay.

From a small beginning it stretched out. The spectrum of light crossing over the water, forming a bridge into the mirk. Blue sky following the bow. Sun following the clouds and warming us up as we walked back to our vehicles.

Enjoying Sarah’s hospitality

Sarah invited us back to Asheiri, having gone on ahead to warm the place up. We shared cake and discussion, and the joy of warming up. Her trees have survived the storm, and plans involving water, stone and wood were considered.

Happy Easter! And thankyou to everyone who has contributed photos to the glimmers chat.
