“Sensing a changed quality in awareness”.
Often described as the feeling of being ‘at one’ with nature, oneself and others”.
“I’d rather be in the mountains thinking about God than in church thinking about the mountains.”
Attributed to John Muir
We often quickly slip into thinking about ‘things’, or thinking about ‘our experience of’ things. Learning the skill of #SensingAwareness is about being in a state of awareness of direct experience.
Some might understand this as mindfulness. Others as sensing the Divine in the world, creating and sustaining all things in being. Understanding it or explaining it is a worthy activity which might lead to #SensingMeaningfulness. Are you able to simply sit for a moment and practice #SensingAwareness though?
(As dandelion seeds dance on the wind outside my window and I become aware of how special this moment is in time).
Some in the Christian tradition practice what they call Christfulness. Perhaps people use the word “Numinous” to describe experiences like this in religious buildings, but can it be experienced in daily life, or in the natural world?
The voice of God in stone is saying solid.
The strength of heaven,
From St Patricks Breastplate, one version here
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendour of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.
