Sculpture artist Ildiko Malovecz (Dee Art and Design) is publicly creating a half size papier mache statue design of the patron saint of Dumfries. We are blessed that she has chosen St Johns church as one of the venues for this project. We are glad to support her in inviting and involving the local community to visit St John’s Church, and be involved in this process.
We hope that people will be intrigued and find time to reflect on wrestling between light and darkness, as well as contemplate the Archangel St Michael who is featured in one of our buildings stained glass windows.
They will be able to write words representing moments of “Light” and “Darkness” on paper. These will be incorporated into the sculpture in a manner which may be familiar from the Transformation Easter Chrysalis project which Quartz ran in 2023
Initial dates to drop in and see the process on Mondays and Thursdays in February have been arranged. More dates and hands on workshops to be announced.
