Whilst the summer solstice is around the 21st of June, midsummer’s day is traditionally celebrated on the 24th.

This is the time when nettles are right for harvesting to use their fibres. We spent an afternoon trying out the process of turning a weed into useful things. We even made a bow drill or two to try firelighting. We didn’t manage that! But used a flint and steel instead. Perhaps we will have worked out the nack by the time of the next Easter Vigil

We shared company and conversation over food and drink. We also took time out to reflect on the days that led up to the sun standing still, and our hopes for the way forwards.
We gave these to the fire to carry for us.
