Arts Michael and the Dragon

Birthday

We are reaching the fulfilment of this stage of the Archangel St Michael and the Dragon Sculpture.  Dee describes this as “Giving Birth” to the sculpture which has been living in her head for a long time.

Nearing Completion

Throughout Lent Dee has explored the struggle between light and dark. People from St John’s and the wider community have contributed their thoughts and prayers for peace. Dee has taken them and worked them into the fabric of the sculpture, writing online comments as well as glue-ing in those left on paper in St John’s.

The sculpture has been visited by Hungarian diplomats, curious passers by, nursery children, and of course the members of St John’s.

On Tuesday the 19th of May this stage of the project will finish, and the sculpture will move to St Michael’s Church of Scotland. You are invited to join us for a short closing ceremony at 11.00, and to accompany the sculpture, with the members and staff of Access Arts, to its new temporary home, if you are able. Look out for the next stage of the project at Guid Nychburris!
